Does Micropigmentation Grow My Hair Back?

Micropigmentation is a coverup solution. It does not grow the hair back. However, it does blend in with your natural hair, and it will make it look like your hair grew back. Micropigmentation is practically undetectable. Unless you tell someone you have had it done, most will ever know the difference, even if they are looking at your scalp with a microscope.

How Does Micropigmentation Blend With Gray Hair?

When the hair is cut low, it has a darker tone and is a different color than grey. We use a pigmentation color chart that is based on the skin color and hair color ratio. This allows us to match any pigment color ink with your natural grey hair, giving you an undetectable blend with your natural hair.

How Long Does Scalp Micropigmentation Last?

Scalp micropigmentation typically lasts 8–10 years, depending on how well you follow the pre- and post-care instructions. A minor touch-up might be needed after about 5–6 years.

How Much Does Scalp Micropigmentation Cost? Is Financing Available?

The cost of the procedure is determined at your free consultation, and is based on the amount of work needed. Cost typically ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. If you are only interested in a hairline reconstruction, that normally costs about $1,500. We offer 100% financing with 0% interest available through CareCredit.

Does My Skin Color or Ethnicity Change the Effectiveness of the Procedure?

No. Hair loss happens to every race and ethnicity. We have a pigment of ink for any and every type of hair and skin color. With our advanced pigmentation color chart, we match your skin tone with your hair color and choose a pigment color based on those two variables.

Do I Have to Wear My Hair Bald to Get This Procedure?

No. We provide several different options when it comes to hairstyles. We offer fill-ins, density fills, and more. During your free consultation, one of our friendly professionals will go over what options are available for your specific needs.

Is There Any Downtime Required After Scalp Micropigmentation?

No. You can go back to work right after the procedure. There is no scarring or bandaging. The only requirement is that you don’t get your scalp wet for at least three days.

How Long Does Scalp Micropigmentation Take?

The procedure is done in three sessions that are one week apart from each other. The first session typically takes between two and three hours depending on the amount of work needed.

What Type of Ink Is Used?

At Skin & Scalp Restoration Clinic, we use the very best pigmentation ink, designed specifically for scalp micropigmentation only. We never use regular tattoo ink! If someone is using tattoo ink for scalp micropigmentation, that shows that they are not experienced in this field and you should look for a scalp micropigmentation specialist familiar with the proper pigmentation ink!

What Happens During My Free Consultation?

Your consultation will take approximately 20 minutes and include the following:

  1. Assessment of your individual needs.

  2. Measurement of scalp and problem areas

  3. Recommendations on the specific type of procedure needed

  4. Answering any questions

  5. Pricing and payment options

Is Microblading a Tattoo?

Microblading is similar to a tattoo. Unlike a regular tattoo, however, microblading is semi-permanent.

Does Microblading Hurt?

The pain level of the procedure is mild to none.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the dermis like traditional tattoos, the area will naturally begin to fade over time. The amount and pace of fading depend on skin type (oily/normal/dry) and age. Microblading typically lasts between one and three years.

Is the Microblading Touch-Up Session Necessary?

Yes! A touch-up session is required after four to six weeks. Everyone heals differently, and the outcome of the procedure will vary with each client. During your touch-up session, one of our aestheticians will refine your eyebrows to ensure that they look perfect and retain their color for the whole year.

How Long Are Microblading Appointments?

Microblading appointments usually last between 90 minutes and two hours, including the 30-minute numbing process and 45-minute microblading process. The rest of the appointment is spent mapping out the eyebrow shape and color.

What Can I Expect With Microblading, Before and After?

Before the procedure, we will consult with you to go over your goals for the look of your eyebrows. We will then use a pencil to help map out the desired shape. After numbing the area, we will begin microblading. The entire process usually takes between one and two hours.

After microblading, your brows will appear darker and bolder than they will eventually look. This is because the pigment is still settling into your skin. The color will lighten up within one to two weeks.

You will also have some scabbing and flaking around the brow area. It is important not to pick at these, as it can cause the pigment to fade or become uneven. The scabs will eventually flake off on their own, revealing your new brows!

What Does Microblading Cost?

The cost of microblading varies depending on the type of brows and the type of microblading you're having done. During your consultation, you can speak with your microblading professional for an estimate of what your initial appointment and touch-up sessions will cost.

What Types of Clients Are Ineligible for Microblading?

We do not provide microblading for individuals who:

  • Are under the age of 18

  • Are pregnant or nursing

  • Have diabetes

  • Have glaucoma

  • Have epilepsy

  • Have a pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Have had an organ transplant

  • Have skin conditions, such as shingles, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, or eczema on the area of the treatment

  • Have allergies to makeup

  • Have keloid disorder or scars

  • Have HIV or hepatitis

  • Have skin cancer

  • Have taken skin medications like Accutane or steroids within the past year

  • If you are taking Retin-A or retinoids, you must be off your medication for at least seven days prior to your procedure and avoid it for 30 days after your procedure.

If you have a different condition that you feel might put you at risk during a microblading procedure, please consult with your doctor prior to scheduling an appointment. You can also call our team at Skin & Scalp Restoration Clinic with any specific questions about your conditions or concerns.
